Developed by a research coalition of three partners (Social Finance UK, The Bertha Centre and Genesis Analytics), the ‘exploration of social impact bonds for SME development’ policy paper explores the applicability of Social Impact Bonds (SIBs) as a financing instrument in South Africa. This assessment particularly assesses the opportunities and challenges relating to the potential design of a SIB, in addition to gauging the potential interest of stakeholders in a SIB that provides business development services (BDS) to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) so as to generate economic growth and job creation.
